Denmark: The RainBakken: The World's Oldest Amusement Park
Believe it or not Bakken, the world's oldest amusement park, dates back to the year 1583 when a young woman named Kirsten Piil discovered a natural spring in the vicinity of Copenhagen. This subsequently attracted large crowds in the warmer months and soon entertainers and hawkers followed.
With its rich history, Bakken is a unique and nostalgic attraction, and unlike it's more famous cousin the Tivoli Gardens in central Copenhagen, entry to Bakken is free of charge.
We love the fact that Bakken features as a setting for The Rain, Season 2, turning a popular family attraction...
...into a postapocalpytic nightmare.
The park's wooden rollercoaster first opened in 1932 and plays a central role in the TV show.
Rasmus and Sarah climb up the roller coaster...
...where Sarah threatens to kill herself but is talked down by Rasmus.
Meanwhile, Simone and her friends Martin and Fie are desperately looking for the pair.
Season 2, Episode 4: Save Yourself
Simone, Martin and Fie pursue Rasmus and Sarah, whose bond deepens while they're on the run. Sarah and Rasmus want to have one good day. They go to an old amusement park. Sarah threatens to kill herself by jumping off the rollercoaster but is talked down by Rasmus (source: Wikipedia).
