On the outskirts of Edinburgh, this stunning Palladian mansion, 300 years in the making, stood in as the seat of North Carolina's Governor in Outlander Season 4, Episode 1: America the Beautiful.

Filming took place in the dining room and the library where Jamie sits down with Governor Tryon to negotiate land rights. You can visit these rooms on a guided tour which will also give you access to the old kitchen and scullery downstairs. *Please note at the time of writing the residence was closed due to conservation work. Season 4, Episode 1: America the Beautiful

In North Carolina, Jamie and Claire plan to sell Geillis's gemstones to pay for everyone's passage back to Scotland. They help thief Stephen Bonnet, who has fled his execution, escape recapture. Jamie and Claire decide to stay in America to start a new life; Fergus and Marsali, who is pregnant, decide to stay as well. En route to visit Jamie's aunt, he and Claire are attacked and robbed by Stephen and his gang of bandits. Stephen takes the jewels, as well as Claire's wedding ring, and kills Jamie's associate Lesley.
