Scotland: Harry PotterAll Aboard the Hogwarts Express
This 84 mile round trip in the historic Jacobite steam train takes you through some of the best countryside the Highlands have to offer. Embarking from Fort William, situated near Ben Nevis, the country's highest mountain, the train passes the village of Corpach and then crosses the Glefinnan Viaduct, which prominently features in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the Dementors stall the train and torture Harry. A train bridge opposite Loch Shiel near Fort William also popped up in the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and was used again when the Dementors boarded the train in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
After a schedulded stop in the village of Glenfinnan, travellers pass the settlements of Lochailort, Arisaig and Morar and continue on to pass Morar, home to Britain’s deepest freshwater Loch and the silvery beaches used in the films Highlander and Local Hero.
The location finishes in the town of Mallaig, formerly a bustling port for the fisheries. These days, it's a place popular with tourists and a ferry gateway to the Isle of Skye.
The starting point for this location is the town of Fort William.
