Northern Ireland: Game of ThronesPortstewart Strand: The Dornish Coast
This two-mile long beach is one of Northern Ireland's most popular tourist attractions. Situated between the town of Portstewart and the mouth of the River Bann, this sweeping coastline of dunes stood in for the coast of Dorne.
Some of the dunes are up to 30 metres high and were formed about 6,000 years ago, which makes it a precious environment for many rare animals and plants, in particular for butterflies and orchids.
Jamie Lannister and Ser Bronn of the Blackwater are sent to Dorne by Cersei Lannister in order to return Myrcella Lannister to King's Landing. As the two men reach the coast of Dorne, they are attacked by Dornish soldiers - who don't stand a chance against the two knights.
Meanwhile, Ellaria, Tyrene, Obara and Nymeria Sand (the 'Sand Snakes') hold a secret meeting on the beach and discuss their plan to start a war against the Lannisters (Season 5, Episode 4: Sons of the Harpy).
